Over the weekend, I caught up with my comrades in Benguela, Angola. Its the same day, Jonas Savimbi was being buried. This’s what happens when members of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) are called to attend a meeting.
At the other end, the UNITA fanatics put up a great parade, but the top generals of the defunct Armed Forces of the Liberation of Angola (FALA)-the armed wing of UNITA, did not turn up for the burial of their Commander in chief, Jonas Savimbi a.k.a Black Jaguar. Though still very alive, the Counter-intelligence chief, Head of operations, former bodyguard, and head of the secret services of Jonas Savimbi, were all absent.
During the MPLA extraordinary meetings, new local leaders were elected. Most people were taken unaware of the elections, thus no time to bribe voters!
